West Africa Youth League Honors Alhaji Ishola Olamilekan Kokumo, CEO Wise FM , as ICON OF HUMANITY


In a landmark ceremony held at the Abeokuta office of Wise FM, the West Africa Youth League (WAYL) formally honored Alhaji Ishola Olamilekan Kokumo, CEO of Wise FM and Baba Adinni of Kemta, Abeokuta, with the prestigious Award of Excellence as ICON OF HUMANITY. This distinguished accolade celebrates his extraordinary leadership, commitment to humanitarian service, and impactful contributions to media, youth empowerment, and community development.

The event drew a distinguished assembly of regional leaders, youth advocates, and prominent community figures. Among those in attendance were Amb. Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, Regional President of the West Africa Youth League; Amb. Kelina Rebecca, Vice President 2 from Pictorial Guinea; Amb. Amosun Sodiq, the Regional President’s Spokesperson; High Chief Olufemi Akinronbi, Ogun State Chairman of the Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security and Security Affairs; Onifade Olawale; and other notable personalities committed to the advancement of youth and societal progress.

Amb. Olasunkanmi Ijaduoye, in his keynote address, eloquently traced the illustrious history and mission of the West Africa Youth League. Founded in 1934 in the then Gold Coast (modern-day Ghana), the League was a pioneering movement that galvanized West African youth into a formidable force against colonial oppression. It championed political liberation, workers’ rights, and social justice, and notably included women in leadership roles at a time when such inclusivity was rare. The League’s legacy of radical activism and pan-African solidarity laid the foundation for the region’s progress toward self-governance and democratic rights.


Drawing from this historical lineage, Amb. Ijaduoye described Alhaji Kokumo as a contemporary embodiment of the League’s enduring values. “Alhaji Ishola Olamilekan Kokumo stands as a beacon of hope, resilience, and visionary leadership,” he declared. “Through his stewardship of Wise FM , he has created a transformative platform that uplifts marginalized voices, empowers youth, and fosters socio-economic progress across West Africa. His dual role as Baba Adinni enriches his leadership with spiritual depth, promoting peace and ethical values essential for societal harmony.”


Alhaji Kokumo’s leadership at Wise FM has revolutionized the broadcasting landscape by championing truth, education, and community engagement. Under his guidance, Wise FM has become a vital hub for young people to express themselves, access critical information, and participate in nation-building initiatives. His philanthropic initiatives and dedication to social justice have inspired a generation of youth to transcend challenges and contribute positively to their communities.

Representing Alhaji Ishola Olamilekan Kokumo, Alhaji Kokumo Yusuf, Chief Operating Officer of Wise FM, delivered a heartfelt response. He expressed sincere gratitude to the West Africa Youth League for this esteemed recognition, describing it as a “right peg in the right hole” acknowledgment that strengthens their resolve to advance humanitarian causes, economic development, and youth empowerment. He urged the youth to embrace their role as proud ambassadors of Nigeria, emphasizing the nation’s vast natural resources and immense potential. Alhaji Yusuf encouraged ongoing collaboration with Wise FM. He also appreciate the league as a both with there vision toward youth welfare 

High Chief Olufemi Akinronbi added his voice, underscoring the critical intersection of youth leadership, security, and sustainable development in Nigeria. He commended Alhaji Kokumo’s contributions and called on young leaders to emulate his dedication and integrity in their efforts to build a peaceful and prosperous society.

The ceremony also featured stirring testimonials from other dignitaries and youth representatives who highlighted the significance of recognizing leaders who embody service, compassion, and visionary leadership.
