 Calling for Accountability: Allegations of Financial Misappropriation at Gateway Polytechnic Saapade



In recent developments at Gateway Polytechnic Saapade, serious allegations of financial misappropriation involving the immediate past Rector, Dr I.K Oyeyinka, and the Bursar, Mr Gbadamosi, have come to light. These allegations have sparked outrage among stakeholders, particularly the Nigeria Youth and Student Coalition (NYSC)


The gravity of these allegations cannot be overstated. Financial mismanagement not only undermines the integrity of academic institutions but also erodes public trust and confidence. It is imperative that such allegations are thoroughly investigated and those found culpable are held accountable.


The governing council of Gateway Polytechnic Saapade has a duty to address these allegations with the utmost seriousness. It must not, under any circumstances, sweep these accusations under the carpet. Transparency and accountability are essential values that must be upheld in all educational institutions.


In light of these allegations, Comr Mummen Ibrahim, representing the voice of the students and youth, calls upon the chairman of Gateway Polytechnic Saapade's governing council to ensure that a thorough investigation is conducted into the financial affairs of the former Rector and Bursar. Any attempt to shield individuals involved in financial misconduct would be a disservice to the institution and its stakeholders.


Furthermore, we urges the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to launch their own independent investigations into these allegations. The involvement of these agencies is crucial in ensuring impartiality and integrity in the pursuit of justice.


It is essential to remember that allegations of financial misappropriation can have far-reaching consequences, not only for the institution but also for the students and staff who rely on its stability and reputation. Swift and decisive action must be taken to address these allegations and restore public trust in Gateway Polytechnic Saapade.


In conclusion, the allegations of financial misappropriation at Gateway Polytechnic Saapade demand immediate attention and action. The governing council, along with relevant authorities, must prioritize accountability and transparency in their response to these allegations. Only through thorough investigation and decisive action can justice be served and the integrity of the institution be upheld.
